I Corinthians 6:13 NKJV – Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
There are two major realms and worlds that have been laid out in the Bible and these are the Spiritual Realm/world and the Physical Realm/world. It therefore follows that if any spirit is going to participate in the physical, tangible and material world, there will be need for it to have a physical and natural body that will enable it to speak, touch and do things in this world physical. This also means that a spirit without a body has no right and power to operate in this physical tangible world. This is why Peter calls his body in 2 Peter 1:14 a tent.
Our above Scripture proceeds to tell us the primary purpose of our body on the earth. It tells us that the body was not created for it to be used for sexual immorality but that it was created for us to participate in things on earth and also for God to live in it and use it to fulfil His purposes on the earth. Using the body for anything other than for a Divine Purpose is an abuse of the reason as to why it was given to us. The body is spiritual and every part of it has been designed to help fulfil some purpose of God on the earth.
The hands are to do the work of God, our feet to go to places where He sends us to go and our mouths to speak the words of God into the world in which we are. Our bodies are sacred and special and they belong to God. They are our tents on the earth and they are meant to facilitate the fulfilment of our destinies while we operate on the it. They ought to be taken care of so that they will live long enough to help us work more exploits for longer periods of time on the earth.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the opportunity You have given me to participate on this earth through my body. I pray that I will take the state of my body seriously and take care of it so that it will not fail to accomplish and to play its role in fulfilling Your Will in the earth to the Glory of Your Name, Amen.
