Tables Overturned

Matthew 21:12 AMPC- [12] And Jesus went into the temple (whole temple enclosure) and drove out all who bought and sold in the sacred place, and He turned over the four-footed tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who sold doves.

Jesus entering the temple to drive out merchandisers, over turning four footed tables isn’t just a display of passion , but a potent metaphor of what we are supposed to do in order to restore God’s temple to its original purpose.

Brethren, The bible says in 1 Corinthians 6 :19 that we are God’s temple his sacred place indwelt by His Holy Spirit to empower , guide and transform us. This indwelling is the very essence of Wisdom, strength and conviction. As stated in our first paragraph that over turning tables is a metaphor signifying disrupting things that hinder our relationship with God to prevent his perfect will from being done in our lives.

We all have”tables that need to over turned , these are either sinful habits ,adversties or anything that takes priority over God in our lives. This requires a honest self examination to identify the tables that need overturning to allow God to transform us into his likeness.

Prayer

Lord, we understand that when you over turned tables and chased merchandisers out of the temple wasn’t just a display of chaos but a revelation of what we are supposed to do to conform to your true likeness since we are Your temple indwelt by Your Holy Spirit. Help us to be obedient to You challenge the status quo, and be willing to disrupt anything hindering Your perfect will for our lives to be done. We ask this by the Power that is in Jesus’ name. Amen.
